Aberdeen Manager Addresses Pressure Amid Winless Start
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin, facing mounting pressure, has stated that he has not been assigned any "must-win" targets in his frequent discussions with chairman Dave Cormack.
The Dons are still in search of their first win and goal of the Scottish Premiership season as they prepare to face Motherwell on Saturday.
Frustration is growing among supporters, as Aberdeen currently sits at the bottom of the league table with only one point from a possible 15.
When asked if Cormack has set specific targets for the upcoming matches, Thelin responded, "No, we just focus on the games ahead of us." He emphasized, "I am the responsible person; I am the manager of the football club, but I also have good staff. We talk more or less every day, and everybody is aligned on how we want to address this situation. We still believe we can turn things around."
Thelin also noted that last weekend's exit from the Premier Sports Cup at the hands of Motherwell has contributed to the negative atmosphere surrounding the club.
"You have to respect that there can be outside noise and pressure from the media and social media. The players just need to focus on what they can control," he added. "We need to deliver more for our fans on the pitch and not let ourselves be affected by the external noise."
Thelin acknowledged that Aberdeen's performance has lacked speed and intensity, stating, "It is not fast enough, it is not intense enough, and the direction is not as forward-thinking as we want it to be. There is too much hesitation, and we often play backward rather than forward. That is what we are working on."
He mentioned that the team has had a "calm chat" and believes that everyone is united in their objective to improve their situation. "During training sessions, you can see that everyone is focused because it is clear what we need to do," he said. "The pressure is there, but the players understand it, and I feel they are eager to demonstrate to our fans what Aberdeen Football Club truly represents."
