Alisson to Miss Chelsea Match Due to Injury
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson will be unavailable for the upcoming match against Chelsea on Saturday following an injury sustained during the game against Galatasaray.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper was substituted in the 56th minute of the 1-0 Champions League defeat in Istanbul, making way for Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Alisson limped off the field after making a save from goalscorer Victor Osimhen. Additionally, striker Hugo Ekitike also had to be replaced after pulling a muscle while attempting to reach for the ball.
"It’s never positive when a player has to leave the pitch in this manner," Slot remarked. "You can be assured he will not be playing on Saturday."
Mamardashvili is set to make his Premier League debut at Stamford Bridge. The Georgian international was signed from Valencia during the summer transfer window for £29 million.
Alisson previously missed 10 Premier League matches last season due to a hamstring injury.
