Angus Gunn's World Cup Qualification Doubt for Scotland
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Angus Gunn may be unavailable for Scotland's crucial World Cup qualifying matches next month.
National team head coach Steve Clarke is set to announce his squad for the upcoming fixtures against Greece and Denmark next week.
However, ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester United, Forest manager Sean Dyche revealed that Gunn has sustained an injury to his knee ligaments.
Dyche did not specify how long the 29-year-old might be sidelined.
This latest setback adds to Gunn's struggles, as he has not played for Nottingham Forest since joining the club on a one-year contract this summer after leaving Norwich City.
His only appearances this season have been during Scotland's four previous World Cup qualifiers.
Gunn, who has earned 20 caps for Scotland, indicated last month that he would consider a transfer in January if he continued to receive limited playing time at his club.
He expressed frustration over not getting the promised playing opportunities under two former managers, Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, and this trend has continued under new manager Dyche prior to his injury.
Scotland currently trails Denmark on goal difference at the top of Europe's Group C qualifying group, with a match against Greece scheduled for November 15, followed by a home game against Denmark three days later. This latter match will be crucial for securing an automatic qualification spot, with the runner-up moving on to the play-offs.
In Clarke's most recent squad, the other two goalkeepers, Craig Gordon from Heart of Midlothian and Liam Kelly from Rangers, have also found themselves sitting on the bench for their respective clubs.
