Arsenal's Mikel Arteta Expresses Concern Over Viktor Gyokeres Injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed concern regarding the muscle injury sustained by Viktor Gyokeres during the team's 2-0 victory against Burnley.
Gyokeres, who joined Arsenal for £64 million this summer, scored the opening goal on Saturday but was substituted at half-time.
The 27-year-old striker has netted four goals in the Premier League this season; however, he has not participated in training since the Burnley match and will be unavailable for Tuesday's Champions League fixture against Slavia Prague at 17:45 GMT.
When asked by BBC Sport if Gyokeres would be part of the squad, Arteta confirmed, "No, he’s definitely not available." He added, "He hasn’t trained today. We need to conduct further tests and scans in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury. But he’s not available."
Arteta was also queried about the possibility of a short-term issue for the Swedish forward but did not provide an optimistic update. "No, I am concerned because he hasn’t had many muscular issues and he needed to leave the pitch feeling something," he said.
"That’s obviously never a good sign, especially for a player who is very, very explosive. We are delving deeper to understand the situation regarding the injury and will announce further details as soon as we know more."
Additionally, Arteta noted that seven Arsenal players are currently sidelined due to injury, including forwards Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus.
