"I played in a charity match recently for a friend, and my team was losing 3-1 when I left the field in the 60th minute. They went on to win 4-3, so draw your own conclusions!" he shared with BBC Sport. "I still have a passion for football, but after injuring my knee a few years ago, it hasn't fully healed. I wish I could play more, but the unpredictability of the sport makes it too risky for my career to return to it seriously. Plus, I'm 41 now, and not everyone can be Cristiano Ronaldo! I'm content not playing and looking forward to the day when my children decide to take up the sport."
Murs and his wife, Amelia Tank, have two children, Madison and Albert. He is eager to follow in his father's footsteps by coaching them if they show interest in football.
"I won’t push football onto our kids, but I've told Amelia that if they develop a passion for it, I’ll need to get my coaching badges and probably manage their weekend teams," he explained. "I’ve watched my nephews play a lot and enjoyed it, and I even owned a non-league football club, Coggeshall Town, for a while. My dad managed our team when I was a kid, which is likely where I got my interest from. He had a lot of fun with it, and I could see a similar future for myself!"
