Barcelona has canceled its pre-season friendly match against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo, originally scheduled for Sunday, citing "serious contractual breaches" by the event promoter.
This match was intended to be the first stop on their Asian tour. The club has also indicated that the subsequent leg in South Korea is at risk of cancellation.
While Barcelona has not disclosed the identity of the promoter, they initially mentioned Yasuda Group when announcing the tour.
"Barcelona announces that it has been obliged to suspend its participation in the game scheduled for next Sunday in Japan due to serious contractual breaches on behalf of the promoter," the club stated.
"Nevertheless, the club will consider readjusting the leg of the summer tour in South Korea if certain conditions are met by the promoter.
"If these conditions are met, then the club will travel to South Korea in the coming days.
"Barcelona regrets this incident and the impact it will have on the many, many Barca fans in Japan."
BBC Sport has reached out to Yasuda Group for comment.
J1 League champions Vissel Kobe expressed, "We sincerely apologize for any concern this may cause to the many fans and related parties who were looking forward to this match."
"Our club is working in collaboration with relevant parties to gather necessary information and take appropriate measures."
Barcelona, who secured their 28th La Liga title last season, is scheduled to play against South Korean teams FC Seoul and Daegu on July 31 and August 4, respectively.
D-Drive, the promoter for the games in South Korea, stated it is doing its "utmost to deliver unforgettable matches."
