Bayern Munich Overcomes Freiburg with Stellar Performance
Michael Olise scored twice and provided three assists as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich rallied from a two-goal deficit to decisively defeat Freiburg.
The visitors shocked the defending champions by taking a 2-0 lead within the first 17 minutes. Yuito Suzuki opened the scoring with a close-range goal, followed by Johan Manzambi, who headed home Jan-Niklas Beste's corner.
Bayern, who had not suffered a league defeat since March, responded brilliantly and equalized by halftime.
Teenager Lennart Karl struck into the bottom corner from an Olise assist in the 22nd minute, and Olise himself found the net with a powerful shot in first-half injury time, although Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu could have done better.
In the second half, Bayern took control of the match. Dayot Upamecano headed in from an Olise corner to give Bayern their first lead of the game.
England captain Harry Kane scored his 14th league goal of the season in the 60th minute, and Olise added another assist when he set up Nicolas Jackson, who finished with ease in the 78th minute.
Olise capped off a remarkable performance by scoring his second goal of the match just six minutes later, driving at the Freiburg defense and curling a shot into the far corner.
This victory marked Bayern's 10th win in their first 11 games, putting them eight points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, while Freiburg sits in 10th place in the standings.
Vincent Kompany's side will visit Arsenal for a Champions League match on Wednesday at 20:00 GMT, with both teams boasting a perfect record of four wins in the league phase of the tournament.
