Bayern Munich's Luis Diaz Suspended Ahead of Champions League Clash with Arsenal
Bayern Munich will be without Luis Diaz for their upcoming Champions League match against Arsenal next week, following a three-match suspension imposed after his red card in the game against Paris Saint-Germain.
Diaz made a significant impact in Bayern's 2-1 victory over the reigning champions PSG on November 4, scoring both goals before being sent off for a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi shortly before halftime.
The tackle resulted in a severe ankle sprain for Hakimi, who has not played since the incident.
UEFA classified Diaz's tackle as "serious rough play," leading to the Colombian forward's three-match ban.
As a result, Diaz will miss the match against Arsenal on November 26, as well as home fixtures against Sporting on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.
Earlier on Friday, Bayern's manager Vincent Kompany had anticipated that Diaz would receive only a one-match suspension.
Currently, Bayern Munich leads the Champions League standings with 12 points after four matches, ahead of Arsenal and Inter Milan on goal difference.
This season, Diaz has scored three goals in four Champions League appearances for Bayern since his transfer from Liverpool in the summer, and has netted six times in ten Bundesliga matches.
