Bournemouth Secures Victory Against Nottingham Forest in Dyche's Premier League Debut
Sean Dyche's first Premier League match as manager of Nottingham Forest ended in defeat, as Bournemouth claimed a well-deserved victory, moving up to second place in the league.
Following their 2-0 win over Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, Forest faced a challenging match at the Vitality Stadium. They fell behind in an unusual manner when a corner from Marcus Tavernier sailed over goalkeeper Matz Sels and found its way directly into the net.
Forest players were unhappy with the decision to award the corner, as Tavernier's cross appeared to deflect off Neco Williams before going out of play.
The visitors had little chance to respond to Bournemouth's second goal, which came when Eli Junior Kroupi seized a loose ball and struck a low shot from 30 yards into the bottom corner, marking his fourth goal in three appearances for the Cherries.
Although the second half saw a slight improvement for Forest, Bournemouth's lead never seemed in jeopardy as the visitors struggled to mount a meaningful comeback.
Nottingham Forest nearly closed the gap late in the game through Morgan Gibbs-White, but goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic made an impressive one-handed save to deny the England international.
This victory leaves Andoni Iraola's team just four points behind league leaders Arsenal, while Nottingham Forest remains in the relegation zone after suffering their sixth defeat of the season.
