Brighton Secures First Premier League Win Against Manchester City
Brajan Gurda came off the bench to score an 89th-minute goal, leading Brighton to their first victory of the Premier League season and handing Manchester City their second consecutive defeat.
The German attacking midfielder clinched the comeback win after skillfully rounding James Trafford, who had previously made a remarkable save to deny Jan Paul van Hecke.
Manchester City initially took the lead in the first half as Erling Haaland celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance with his 88th goal for Pep Guardiola's team.
However, following a handball by Matheus Nunes inside the box, James Milner converted a penalty, marking his first Premier League goal since 2019. At 39 years and 239 days, he became the second oldest scorer in the league's history.
Gurda's late winner shocked City, who had dominated the first hour of the match but failed to capitalize on numerous opportunities. This defeat follows their loss to Tottenham Hotspur the previous weekend.
