Carabao Cup Third Round Fixtures Announced
Carabao Cup holders Newcastle United will begin their title defense at home against League One side Bradford City in the third round.
League Two team Grimsby Town will face Championship club Sheffield Wednesday after their stunning victory over Manchester United in a thrilling penalty shootout at Blundell Park.
Manchester City is set to play against League One's Huddersfield Town at the Accu Stadium, while Arsenal will make the trip to face Port Vale.
Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, who were runners-up in last season's final, will host Championship side Southampton, and Chelsea will travel to Lincoln City.
In two all-Premier League matchups, Brentford will host Aston Villa, and Wolverhampton Wanderers will welcome Everton.
The eight teams participating in the Champions League and Europa League—Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa—have been seeded to prevent scheduling conflicts.
Crystal Palace was not included in the seeding as the Conference League phase does not commence until October.
The third round matches are scheduled to take place over two weeks, starting from September 15 and 22, coinciding with Champions League and Europa League fixtures.
