Cardiff City Signs Chelsea's Omari Kellyman on Loan
Cardiff City has secured the signing of Chelsea attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old player underwent corrective surgery for ongoing hamstring issues in late March and is eager to revitalize his career by competing at the League One level.
Since joining Chelsea in a £19 million transfer from Aston Villa in 2024, Kellyman has made only four appearances for the Under-21s and has yet to feature in a first-team match at Stamford Bridge.
Despite this, he believes that joining League One leaders Cardiff will provide an excellent opportunity for his development.
The Bluebirds, who were relegated from the Championship last season, remain unbeaten under new head coach Brian Barry-Murphy, who aims to make at least two further signings before the transfer deadline.
Kellyman becomes Cardiff's third signing this summer, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Nathan Trott and defender Gabriel Osho.
“I like to make things happen. I enjoy being forward-thinking and getting on the ball as much as possible. I want to come here, score goals, provide assists, and help the team,” Kellyman stated on the club's website.
“I’ve been following the recent games, and it’s exciting to see the talented players we already have. I’m looking forward to playing alongside the team.”
