Celtic Signs Sebastian Tounekti from Hammarby
Celtic Football Club has acquired winger Sebastian Tounekti from Hammarby for an undisclosed fee. Manager Brendan Rodgers anticipates that Tounekti will significantly enhance the team's performance.
The 23-year-old, born in Norway, has signed a five-year contract with the Scottish champions. He has also represented his adopted country in two international matches.
Tounekti joined Hammarby in February after transferring from Norwegian club Haugesund. He departs the Swedish side while they are positioned second in the Allsvenskan, having played 22 matches this season.
Rodgers expressed his enthusiasm on the club's website, stating, "He will be a really exciting addition to our squad. He will provide us with added attacking intent, and I am confident he can make a significant impact on our team."
Rodgers further praised Tounekti, describing him as a quick and intelligent winger capable of playing on both flanks, thereby creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. "Our coaching staff and I are eager to work with Sebastian," he added.
Tounekti began his career with Tromsdalen in Norway before moving to Bodø/Glimt, where he was loaned to Groningen. Following his transfer to Haugesund in 2022, he also spent time on loan at Ranheim.
During his tenure at Hammarby, Tounekti made 23 appearances, with all but one being starts, and he scored three goals.
