Chelsea has initiated discussions with Ajax regarding a potential transfer for centre-back Jorrel Hato, while simultaneously pursuing interest in RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons.
Hato, 19, has gained recognition as one of Europe's most promising young defenders following an impressive season in the Eredivisie, where he made 31 appearances.
BBC Sport reports that Chelsea is in direct communication with both Ajax and Hato's representatives to explore a possible summer transfer. These discussions are currently in the preliminary stages, with no agreement reached yet.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is also negotiating personal terms with Simons.
The 22-year-old Netherlands international is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea aims to enhance its creativity and attacking prowess.
RB Leipzig is aware of Chelsea's interest, but no agreement has been finalized.
Simons, who joined Leipzig permanently from Paris St-Germain in January after two loan spells totaling one and a half seasons, is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
Sources indicate that while Bayern Munich is interested in Simons, they are primarily focused on acquiring Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.
Arsenal, on the other hand, is monitoring Simons' situation as they evaluate their summer transfer options.

Prior to Euro 2024, former Ajax and PSV coach Aad de Mos commented on the "excessive hype" surrounding Simons.
Former Netherlands winger Bolo Zenden explained, "At times, I think he is too eager—not in a selfish way, but eager to perform well.
"He poses a threat. He has the right attitude, skills, and work ethic. He never complains. Any manager would want him on their team."
Simons demonstrated his talent against England in the semi-finals in Germany, scoring a remarkable goal to put the Netherlands 1-0 ahead before England came back to win 2-1.
"He is a very talented player with much to offer," added Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk.
"He can still improve significantly, but he has a good mentality, so I'm confident he will continue to develop."
Simons, who made his move from PSG to Leipzig permanent in January, had a productive season with RB Leipzig, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists across 33 matches in all competitions.
However, this was not enough to secure Champions League qualification for his club, as RB Leipzig finished seventh in the Bundesliga.
