Crystal Palace Boss Optimistic About Europa League Appeal
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is confident that the club will successfully appeal its demotion from the Europa League to the Conference League.
The Eagles faced sanctions for violating multi-club ownership regulations, as American businessman John Textor holds a stake in Crystal Palace while also being the majority owner of French club Lyon, which has also qualified for the Europa League.
In July, Palace filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the punishment imposed by Uefa, which also affects Lyon and Nottingham Forest.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will take Palace's place in the Europa League as a result of the sanctions.
The appeal hearing commenced on Friday, with a decision anticipated by Monday.
"I’m always positive," Glasner stated during a news conference ahead of Sunday's Community Shield match against Liverpool. "I see no reason why we should be demoted or why we should be relegated to the Conference League. I understand how the club operates, and it is solely the chairman and the staff here who make these decisions."
