Crystal Palace Chairman Discusses Contract Talks with Manager Oliver Glasner
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed that discussions have taken place with manager Oliver Glasner regarding the extension of his contract, as both parties seek to align their interests.
Glasner's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, leading to uncertainty about the future of the 51-year-old at the club.
According to sources reported by BBC Sport, the Austrian manager was offered a new deal earlier this summer, but he has yet to sign the contract.
"We’ve had some early conversations," Parish stated in an interview with Talksport. "We would love to keep Oliver; we’re building something. I think for Oliver, it’s about the conditions being right."
Since taking over as Palace boss in February 2024, Glasner has led the team to victory in last season's FA Cup, marking the club's first major trophy.
This achievement allowed the team to qualify for the Europa League; however, they were subsequently demoted to the Conference League due to violations of multi-club ownership rules. American businessman John Textor, who owns a stake in the Eagles, is also the majority owner of French club Lyon, which had qualified for the Europa League.
In addition, Glasner guided Palace to a victory against Liverpool in the Community Shield this August and has positioned the team sixth in the Premier League, just four points behind the leaders after a strong start to the season.
"It’s about everything being arranged in a way that he enjoys his work and finds the conditions favorable for success," Parish added. "Oliver wants to win things; he makes no secret of that. That’s what he’s in football for. So, if we can align those interests, then hopefully we can make something happen."
