Ekitike Welcomes Isak's Arrival at Liverpool
Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike has expressed enthusiasm about the arrival of British record transfer Alexander Isak, believing it will aid in his development as a player.
Ekitike, 23, joined the Premier League champions this summer for £69 million and made an impressive start, netting five goals in his first ten appearances.
The club pursued Isak throughout the transfer window and ultimately secured his signing on deadline day for £125 million.
Speculation surrounds how manager Arne Slot will utilize both forwards, as they have yet to play together on the pitch.
"I think having players of such caliber in a big club is beneficial," Ekitike stated. "It's hard to imagine a major club relying on just one striker, so I welcome his presence here.
"At my age, I still have plenty to learn and improve, so having him around is advantageous for my growth.
"Whether we can play together is up to the coach and his tactical decisions, not me. However, both of us are talented players. I have experience in both two-striker and single-striker setups, so I am adaptable to playing alongside him if needed."
In a recent Carabao Cup match against Southampton, both strikers found the net, although Ekitike replaced Isak at halftime. Ekitike scored a late winner but received a red card for removing his shirt after having been booked earlier.
"That wasn’t a smart decision on my part," Ekitike admitted. "I brought this upon myself, I would say. I felt disappointed watching my teammates from home last Saturday, and as I mentioned on Instagram, I have already apologized to everyone, including my teammates.
"I assure you that this kind of incident will not happen again. I am focused on moving forward and concentrating on my football."
