After suffering consecutive defeats, City required their star player to perform in the high-stakes derby, and the 25-year-old delivered in his characteristic composed manner.
Haaland, a prolific scorer, increased his tally to seven goals this week by netting twice in Sunday’s 3-0 triumph over Manchester United, following an impressive five-goal performance for Norway in their 11-1 victory against Moldova on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Haaland achieved his 50th goal in just as many home league games, a record only Shearer matched in fewer appearances, accomplishing it in 47 matches.
In January, Haaland extended his contract until 2034, and his scoring rate presents a daunting prospect for defenders.
Having played 101 matches to date, if he continues at this pace, he would need 191 more matches to equal Shearer’s record, which translates to just over five additional full seasons in the Premier League.
