Everton Defender Jarrad Branthwaite to Undergo Surgery
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is set to undergo hamstring surgery, resulting in an extended absence from the team.
The 23-year-old has not played for David Moyes' side this season, having sustained an injury during pre-season training.
Initially described as a 'minor niggle' in July, the injury has since worsened, necessitating surgical intervention.
Everton released a statement saying, "Following specialist consultation, it has been determined that the defender will undergo a surgical procedure to address the issue.
"Branthwaite will begin a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club's medical team following the operation."
This summer, Branthwaite attracted interest from several clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham, before opting to sign a new five-year contract with Everton.
The former Carlisle United player has had loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven, where he won the Dutch Cup during the 2022-23 season.
