Fulham Secures Comeback Victory Over Brentford
Alex Iwobi delivered an impressive performance, contributing a goal and an assist as Fulham rallied to defeat Brentford and secure their second Premier League win of the season.
Brentford initially took the lead when Mikkel Damsgaard intercepted a careless pass from Josh King near the edge of the box, executing a composed low finish into the corner of the net.
Fulham equalized shortly after, as Sasa Lukic's shot deflected into a crowded box, allowing Iwobi to sweep the ball through the legs of Brentford captain Nathan Collins and into the net.
Just two minutes later, Fulham took the lead with Iwobi playing a pivotal role, threading a brilliant pass through the Brentford defense for Harry Wilson to score.
Fulham maintained their momentum into the second half, extending their lead when Ethan Pinnock misjudged a header from Ryan Sessegnon’s cross, inadvertently redirecting the ball into his own net.
Rodrigo Muniz appeared to have added a stunning fourth goal with a powerful half-volley that left goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher unable to respond. However, referee Michael Oliver reviewed the play with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and disallowed the goal due to a collision between Muniz and Collins, which left the Brentford defender with a significant injury.
With this victory, Fulham climbed to seventh place in the league standings, while Brentford fell to 17th.
