Harry Kane Aims for Historic Milestone in Bayern's Match Against Werder Bremen
England captain Harry Kane is poised to make history as Bayern Munich faces Werder Bremen live on the BBC this Friday.
Kane, 32, has netted 98 goals for Bayern in 103 matches, closing in on the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland. Both players reached their century of goals for Real Madrid and Manchester City, respectively, in 105 matches. Should Kane score two goals on Friday, he will surpass this milestone for clubs in Europe’s top five leagues.
Bayern Munich aims to maintain their perfect start to the season as they host mid-table Werder Bremen, with the match scheduled to kick off at 19:30 BST. The team has won its last seven matches across all competitions and has not suffered a loss in the Bundesliga since March 8, 2025, when they fell 3-2 to Bochum.
This season, Bayern has scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga while conceding only three, making them the only team to win all their league matches thus far.
Under the management of Vincent Kompany, Bayern's frontline has evolved over the past three seasons, with Kane joining in his first season, followed by Michael Olise in his second, and Luis Diaz this season.
Werder Bremen has experienced a mixed start to the season. In their second match, they staged a comeback from a 3-1 deficit to draw 3-3 against Bayer Leverkusen, a game that marked Erik ten Hag’s last in charge of the club. They lost their opening match 4-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
After earning their first point of the season with an away victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, where they scored four goals, Werder Bremen fell to a 3-0 defeat against Freiburg in their most recent outing.
Players to Watch
Kane has already scored eight goals in four appearances this season, including two hat-tricks. He also made Bundesliga history on Saturday by becoming the first player to convert 17 penalty kicks without a miss.
While Kane leads with eight goals this season, Olise has taken more shots than any other player in the Bundesliga, contributing three goals and an assist so far.
For Werder Bremen, Romano Schmid has scored two goals this season, both from penalties, and is on track to surpass last year’s total of five goals.
