Hartlepool United Part Ways with Manager Simon Grayson
Hartlepool United has parted ways with manager Simon Grayson after just four months at the helm of the National League club.
Grayson, 55, was appointed in June as the successor to Anthony Limbrick. Under his leadership, Hartlepool secured 10 points from their first four league matches. However, the team struggled thereafter, managing only one victory in their last 11 outings across all competitions.
A club statement indicated that this poor run of form was deemed unacceptable, leaving Hartlepool in 12th place in the league standings after 14 matches. Grayson's final match in charge was a 1-1 draw against seventh-tier Gainsborough Trinity in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.
"Following discussions yesterday evening and a board meeting this morning, it became clear that our expectations regarding performance and results have not been met," the statement read. "With just one win in the past 11 games, we have concluded that the required standards have not been achieved, leading the board of directors to make the difficult decision to relieve Simon of his duties."
In the interim, player-coach Nicky Featherstone, along with Elliott Dickman and Adam Smith, will take charge of the team, beginning with the upcoming replay against Gainsborough on Tuesday.
