Hearts Triumph with Late Winner Against Livingston
Substitute Alexandros Kyziridis' dramatic injury-time winner secured three points for Hearts against Livingston, propelling them to the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Livingston took the lead in the 26th minute when Lewis Smith skillfully maneuvered past Harry Milne on the right, cutting inside to unleash a low shot that beat Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark at his near post.
Claudio Braga came close to equalizing with a low shot from the right that zipped past the far post, but Hearts struggled to create further opportunities in the first half, finding it difficult to cope with Livingston's pressure.
However, the tide turned early in the second half when half-time substitute Alexandros Kyziridis won a corner and assisted Braga, who headed the ball past Jerome Prior at the near post to level the score.
Hearts emerged from the break with renewed vigor, applying significant pressure on the Livingston defense.
Record signing Ageu, who joined from Santa Clara earlier in the week, made his debut and looked promising, coming close to scoring from just outside the Livingston box but ultimately sending his shot wide.
The Brazilian nearly assisted Hearts' second goal when he tangled with Prior inside the box, allowing Braga to have a clear shot at goal, but he was thwarted by the upright.
Ultimately, Kyziridis became the hero for Hearts when, deep into injury time, he broke through on goal and calmly finished past Prior, sealing all three points and marking his first goal for the Edinburgh club.
Hearts' Second Half Resurgence - Analysis
At half-time, it was fair to say that Livingston deserved their 1-0 lead. Once again, McInnes' side delivered an uninspiring first half, with little to show apart from an early chance from Braga.
Livingston appeared strong in attack, applying considerable pressure on the Hearts backline throughout the first half, with goalscorer Smith creating numerous problems and opportunities.
However, similar to their previous match against Motherwell at Tynecastle, Hearts emerged a different team in the second half.
McInnes' decision to introduce Kyziridis at the break proved to be a masterstroke, as he assisted Braga for the equalizer and scored the winning goal himself. Yet, the question remains: how sustainable is Hearts' reliance on their second-half performances?
As the schedule intensifies, there may be games where they cannot afford to delay their efforts until the second half.
Upcoming Matches for Both Teams
Both teams will be in action next Saturday in the Premiership. Hearts will face Rangers away at 15:00 BST, while Livingston will travel to play Hearts.
