Ipswich Town and Derby County Share Spoils in Thrilling Draw
Jack Clarke scored a dramatic stoppage-time penalty to secure a 2-2 draw for Ipswich Town against Derby County.
Clarke's goal came in the 16th minute of added time, denying Derby their first Championship win of the season.
Derby had mounted a comeback to take a 2-1 lead after Carlton Morris converted a penalty and Rhian Brewster found the net in the second half, reversing Jacob Greaves' first-half opener for Ipswich.
The result leaves both teams winless as they head into the international break, having played four league matches this season.
Ipswich took the lead in the 33rd minute, having looked increasingly dangerous as the first half progressed. Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom misjudged an inswinging corner from Ashley Young, allowing Greaves to head the ball into an unguarded net.
Young, Jaden Philogene, and Dara O'Shea, who hit the post with a header from Leif Davis' corner, all came close to extending Ipswich's lead before the halftime whistle.
However, just three minutes into the second half, Derby equalized when Morris maintained his record of scoring in every league match this season, converting a penalty after Davis was penalized for handling Brewster's shot.
Ipswich soon appealed for a penalty of their own after Matt Clarke's challenge on George Hirst; however, Hirst was booked for diving instead.
Derby completed their turnaround in the 70th minute when Brewster seized on a loose ball, broke through Ipswich's defense, and slid his first goal for the club into the far corner.
Just as Derby appeared poised to hold onto the lead during a lengthy stoppage time, substitute David Ozoh was penalized for a foul on Sammie Szmodics in the box, giving Clarke the opportunity to earn a point for Ipswich.

Derby head coach John Eustace expressed his disappointment to BBC Radio Derby: "I am really, really disappointed to concede the equalizer. I think that’s a world record amount of time ever added to any game. I’ve never seen that many minutes before.
"The lads battled hard and deserved the three points. What an effort from a group of players who will grow throughout the season. There are some really good signs for where we want to go, and I was really proud of the effort.
"You can see everyone is gaining momentum and getting fit. The club has been fantastic with the signings we’ve made, and there is a lot to be positive about moving forward."
