Jordi Alba Announces Retirement from Professional Football
Former Spain and Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has announced his retirement from professional football at the conclusion of the current Major League Soccer season.
The 36-year-old defender, who won the Euro 2012 championship with Spain and the Champions League with Barcelona, joined his former teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami in 2023.
Inter Miami has qualified for the playoffs, which are set to conclude in early December.
In a video shared on Instagram, Alba expressed his sentiments, stating, "The time has come to close a truly meaningful chapter in my life. I have decided to bring my professional football career to an end at the conclusion of this season. I do so with complete conviction, with peace, and with happiness."
Alba retired from international football in 2023 after earning 93 caps for the Spanish national team.
