Kilmarnock Stages Comeback Against Hibernian in Thrilling Draw
Teenage wing-back Ben Brannan's stunning long-range strike enabled Kilmarnock to stage a remarkable comeback, drawing 2-2 with high-flying Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.
David Gray's team entered the match with considerable momentum, following their impressive 2-0 victory over Partizan Belgrade in Serbia during the first leg of their Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday night.
Making a few alterations to the lineup for a touch of "freshness," as noted by the head coach, Hibernian appeared anything but fatigued as they quickly seized control of the game.
From a free-kick near the byline, Jamie McGrath delivered a precise cross to the back post, where Rocky Bushiri rose above defenders to give Hibs an early lead.
The hosts continued to push forward, creating chances at will, and soon doubled their advantage. A clever one-two between Junior Hoilett and Elie Youan allowed the latter to slot the ball under the goalkeeper, making it 2-0.
Though Hibs seemed to be in a comfortable position, just before half-time, Kilmarnock's Marcus Dackers managed to maneuver past two defenders and reached the byline, where he cut the ball back for Liam Polworth to score.
This goal invigorated the visitors, who soon found their equalizer through a spectacular effort from young Brannan. After a corner was cleared, Brannan volleyed a brilliant shot from 25 yards, arcing the ball over the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net.
