League Two and National League Matches Postponed Due to Freezing Temperatures
League Two matches between Notts County and Gillingham, as well as Walsall and Fleetwood, have been postponed due to freezing temperatures.
Additionally, six National League games scheduled for Saturday were also called off.
Aldershot's home match against Solihull Moors, Rochdale's game against Brackley Town, Woking's home fixture against Hartlepool United, and Southend's match against Truro City were all deemed unplayable due to the conditions.
The highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash between Boreham Wood and York City, along with Scunthorpe United versus Sutton United, had already been postponed on Friday.
Notts County's game at Meadow Lane was cancelled following a pitch inspection on Saturday morning, despite the use of frost sheets since their defeat to Accrington on New Year's Day. Walsall's match at Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium was similarly affected.
League Two clubs have issued statements indicating that the postponed fixtures will be rescheduled in due course.
In the National League, Aldershot released a statement assuring fans that all necessary measures were taken to maximize the chances of the match proceeding, but the overnight weather rendered the pitch unplayable.
The fixture against Solihull Moors has been rescheduled for next Saturday, January 10, with a kick-off time of 15:00 GMT.
Rochdale was set to face Brackley at Accrington Stanley's Wham Stadium, where they recently played Hartlepool United and lost 2-1, as work on their home pitch continues.
Despite the efforts of Accrington Stanley's ground staff, who laid frost covers immediately after Tuesday's match, the sub-freezing temperatures overnight made the surface unplayable, according to a statement.
Woking's pitch had been cleared for play on Friday, but the club reported that overnight sub-freezing temperatures prevented their game from taking place. They expressed apologies for any inconvenience to fans, particularly those traveling from the North.
No new dates have yet been announced for the matches involving Rochdale, Woking, and Southend.
Yellow warnings for snow and ice were issued for significant portions of England starting at midnight on Thursday, remaining in effect until midday on Friday. Additional alerts have been announced for the weekend and into early next week.
