League Two Matches Postponed Due to Freezing Conditions
League Two matches scheduled for Saturday at Oldham Athletic, Chesterfield, and Accrington Stanley have been postponed due to freezing conditions. Additionally, Salford City’s FA Cup tie against Swindon Town has also been affected.
Pitch inspections conducted on Thursday at Boundary Park and SMH Group Stadium revealed that the playing surfaces were frozen. A subsequent inspection at Accrington on Friday confirmed that their fixture was also postponed.
Oldham Athletic was set to face Notts County, while Chesterfield, currently in seventh place, was scheduled to host ninth-placed Colchester. Accrington Stanley was due to welcome Barnet.
Despite efforts to use sheets and heat lamps at Salford’s Peninsula Stadium, their third-round tie against Swindon Town will now be rescheduled for a later date.
New dates for the rearranged fixtures will be announced in due course. It is noteworthy that Chesterfield was one of only four teams in League Two whose match was not postponed on Sunday. This marks the second consecutive postponement for Oldham, Notts County, and Colchester United.
