Leanne Crichton, the assistant manager of Glasgow City, is the leading candidate to assume the role of head coach for the Rangers women's team, according to sources at BBC Scotland.
The club has engaged in successful discussions with the former Scotland international, and she is anticipated to succeed Jo Potter, who departed last month to manage Crystal Palace.
Under Potter's leadership, the team secured a domestic cup double in both of her seasons and finished third in the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL) last term.
Crichton, 37, has had three playing stints with Glasgow City and has also played for Celtic, Hibernian, Notts County, and Motherwell, where she transitioned into coaching. She returned to Glasgow City in November to assist Leanne Ross.
The midfielder has earned 72 senior international caps and frequently appears as a football pundit on BBC Scotland's television and radio programs.
Rangers will travel to Italy on Monday for a pre-season training camp and will kick off the new SWPL season with an away match against Montrose on August 17.
