Liverpool has reached an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for an initial fee of £69 million. The 23-year-old French forward is scheduled to arrive in the UK on Tuesday for a medical examination.
The deal, accepted by Frankfurt, is valued at £79 million, with £69 million guaranteed and an additional £10 million in potential add-ons. Ekitike is poised to sign a six-year contract and will join Liverpool's Asia tour later this week.
Earlier this month, Newcastle had a £70 million offer for Ekitike turned down, while Liverpool has also shown interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. Ekitike scored 15 goals in 31 starts, contributing to Frankfurt's third-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
With Ekitike's acquisition, Liverpool's total spending this summer will exceed £250 million. The club has already signed Florian Wirtz for a potential British record fee of £116 million, along with defenders Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong for a combined cost of £70 million.
