Liverpool Signs Alexander Isak for Record Fee
Liverpool has secured the signing of striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British transfer record fee of £125 million.
Sources from Newcastle indicate that the total value of the deal could reach £130 million when including performance-related add-ons.
The 25-year-old Sweden international underwent a medical examination on Monday before finalizing a six-year contract with the club.
Liverpool's initial bid of £110 million for Isak was rejected in August, but the club has now successfully acquired their primary target for the summer transfer window.
The lengthy negotiation process concluded on the final day of the transfer window, with Liverpool announcing the deal at 21:30 BST, two and a half hours after the window officially closed.
This move follows Newcastle's recent acquisition of German international striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart last week, as well as Brentford forward Yoane Wissa in a £50 million deal on Monday.
In contrast, Liverpool was unable to finalize a £35 million agreement for England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Although Guehi had completed a medical with the club, the deal fell through due to Palace's inability to secure a replacement.
