Marco Silva Critiques Fulham's Summer Transfer Activity
Fulham head coach Marco Silva has expressed concerns about the club's "passive" approach to strengthening the squad during the summer transfer window.
As the Cottagers prepare to face Brighton in their Premier League opener on Saturday, they have only secured one new signing: goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte from Montpellier.
Silva has voiced his frustration regarding the club's inability to bring in additional players.
"It's not an ideal scenario," Silva remarked, while also acknowledging the club's efforts to extend contracts for Tom Cairney and Josh King. "I didn't expect us to be this passive. I had a clear vision and plan, but it has not materialized. We need to reinforce our squad, as we are lacking in some positions."
He added, "Did I expect this? Certainly not, but the market operates as it does."
In July, BBC Sport reported that Fulham had reached out to Arsenal regarding the possibility of re-signing Reiss Nelson, who spent the previous season on loan at Craven Cottage.
Nelson has agreed to terms for a return to the west London club, but Fulham is still negotiating the conditions of the loan with Arsenal.
Additionally, Fulham is in discussions to sign winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk, a move that could exceed the club's record signing of Emile Smith Rowe for £34 million from the Emirates Stadium last summer.
