Marseille Triumphs with Late Goals to Top Ligue 1
Marseille scored two late goals to level points with hosts Strasbourg, securing the top position in Ligue 1 based on goal difference.
Strasbourg appeared poised to extend their lead at the top of the table, leading by four points until the 78th minute when Abdoul Ouattara found the net.
However, former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalized for Marseille, and Amir Murillo completed the comeback as the match approached injury time.
Aubameyang was quick to react to his own shot, which had been parried by goalkeeper Mike Penders, to level the score.
Penders, currently on loan from Chelsea, had initially made a crucial save in stoppage time, tipping a header from substitute Robinio Vaz onto the crossbar, but the rebound fell to Murillo, who capitalized on the opportunity.
As a result, Marseille now sits at the top of the table, with five teams, including Strasbourg in fifth place, all tied at 12 points.
