Marseille vs. PSG Ligue 1 Match Postponed Due to Severe Weather
Sunday's Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Paris St-Germain at Stade Velodrome has been postponed due to severe weather conditions forecasted for the region.
Authorities have issued an orange alert for flooding and thunderstorms in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) region, where Marseille is located.
The match was scheduled to kick off at 20:45 local time (19:45 BST), but concerns for fan safety arose from predictions of heavy rainfall between 19:00 and 22:00.
The PACA prefect stated, "Rainfall could reach 70 to 90 mm in some areas, with localized totals of up to 120 mm in just a few hours."
Neither Marseille nor PSG has yet commented on the postponement of 'Le Classique,' which will be rescheduled at a later date.
Defending champions PSG have made a flawless start to the current season, winning all four of their matches and sitting at the top of Ligue 1, while Marseille currently ranks eighth with two wins and two losses.
