Memphis Depay Becomes Netherlands' All-Time Leading Scorer
Memphis Depay has made history by becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Netherlands, following his goal in a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.
The 31-year-old forward, currently playing for Brazilian club Corinthians, scored his landmark 51st international goal by converting a cross from Cody Gakpo from just six yards out during his 104th appearance for the national team.
Depay surpasses the previous record held by former teammate Robin van Persie, who scored 50 goals in 102 matches between 2005 and 2017.
Throughout his career, Depay has played for several prestigious clubs, including PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid, before making his move to Brazil last year.
He made his debut for the Netherlands in 2013 against Turkey and scored his first international goal against Australia during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
