Middlesbrough Manager Focuses on Upcoming Match Amid Wolves Speculation
Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards acknowledges the speculation linking him to the managerial position at Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he is fully focused on Tuesday's match against Leicester City.
Edwards, 42, who made 100 league appearances for Wolves from 2004 to 2008, has held various coaching positions at the club over the years.
The winless West Midlands team parted ways with manager Vitor Pereira on Sunday and currently finds itself eight points from safety, with former manager Gary O'Neil reportedly in discussions about a potential return.
"I can understand the speculation given my connections to the club, but my complete focus is on my current role, which is a fantastic opportunity. I am dedicated to turning things around for a crucial game against Leicester," Edwards stated in an interview with BBC Radio Tees.
He added, "It's difficult for me to comment on speculation regarding anything other than Middlesbrough. We've performed reasonably well so far, and my only concern is winning tomorrow's match."
Edwards previously led Luton Town to promotion to the Premier League in May 2023 and took over as Middlesbrough's manager in June after the dismissal of Michael Carrick.
The Teessiders currently sit second in the Championship, three points behind league leaders Coventry City.
