Morocco Advances to Semi-Finals of Africa Cup of Nations
Hosts Morocco secured their place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) with an impressive performance against Cameroon in Rabat.
The match saw Morocco score a goal in each half, with Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari finding the net, while Cameroon struggled to create significant threats.
Diaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute, converting from close range after Ayoub El Kaabi flicked the ball on from a corner, nudging it into the net with his thigh for his fifth goal of the tournament.
Saibari added the second goal, capitalizing on a loose ball from a free-kick to fire a low left-footed shot into the net.
The match was played in an electrifying atmosphere, reminiscent of the passionate support witnessed from North African fans during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Walid Regragui's team appeared in control throughout the contest, which was marked by moments of tension.
With this victory, Morocco has matched their historic run to the semi-finals from Qatar and is now just two wins away from claiming their first Afcon title since 1976.
The team will enjoy another home advantage when they return to the stadium on Wednesday at 20:00 GMT to face the winner of the quarter-final match between Algeria and Nigeria, scheduled for Saturday at 16:00 GMT.
