Newcastle Manager Provides Injury Updates on Livramento and Wissa
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has provided updates on the recovery timelines for Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa, indicating positive news for Livramento but a longer wait for Wissa's debut.
Defender Tino Livramento, who previously endured an anterior cruciate ligament injury during his time at Southampton, raised concerns when he was stretchered off during Newcastle's recent defeat to Arsenal at St James' Park. The 22-year-old has been a key player, logging the most minutes (646) in the early weeks of the Premier League season.
Howe revealed that Livramento consulted a specialist a few days ago, and the scan results were more favorable than initially anticipated. "The specialist confirmed it’s roughly an eight-week injury," Howe stated. "While it’s a setback to lose him, considering the circumstances, this is good news."
In addition, Newcastle is also without new signing Yoane Wissa, who joined from Brentford for £55 million on deadline day but has yet to make his debut. The 29-year-old suffered a knee injury while representing the Democratic Republic of Congo during international duty in September.
Howe mentioned, "Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We now believe it will be around eight weeks rather than six. There’s no recurrence or issue, just a slightly longer recovery period."
Newcastle is set to face Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest at 14:00 BST on Sunday.
