Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina Out for Three Months Due to Injury
Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has been sidelined for three months due to a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty.
The right-back limped off during Nigeria's 1-1 draw against South Africa in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday, and subsequent scans have confirmed the seriousness of the injury.
Aina will be removed from Forest's Premier League squad but can be re-registered after the winter transfer window.
New manager Ange Postecoglou had announced on Thursday that the 28-year-old was under evaluation, and it has now been confirmed that he will be unavailable until the new year.
In related news, striker Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to be included in the Premier League squad for Nottingham Forest.
The team is set to face Arsenal on Saturday, marking Postecoglou's first match in charge following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo earlier this week.
"It's a great game – Mikel [Arteta] has got them off to a good start," Postecoglou commented. "I think they've strengthened over the summer for sure. They're a stronger team than they were last year, so they'll be a great challenge for us."
Postecoglou was previously let go by Tottenham at the end of last season, just 16 days after leading the team to victory in the Europa League.
