Ousmane Dembele Shines as PSG Tops Ligue 1 with Victory Over Lille
Ousmane Dembele scored twice to help Paris Saint-Germain reclaim the top spot in Ligue 1 with a decisive victory over Lille.
The French forward opened the scoring early in the match, executing a beautiful strike that curled into the corner of the net from 20 yards out.
Dembele added a spectacular second goal at the Parc des Princes just after the hour mark, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper from just inside the box.
Bradley Barcola sealed the win with a third goal in injury time, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up from Lille.
Despite winning the Ballon d'Or last season, Dembele has faced challenges this year due to injuries.
PSG coach Luis Enrique acknowledged Dembele's impressive offensive display but emphasized the need for him to contribute defensively as well. "Everyone will say that Ousmane is the best player, but for me, no. We still need to see the best version of Ousmane defensively," Enrique stated. "We need a player like him with a defensive mentality. He showed that last year, and this year, he needs to continue that."
PSG currently holds a two-point lead over Lens, who could reclaim the Ligue 1 top position with a win against Auxerre on Saturday.
