Postecoglou Faces Backlash Following Europa League Defeat
Ange Postecoglou is facing significant backlash from supporters as his winless tenure as Nottingham Forest head coach continues, marked by a disappointing Europa League defeat to Midtjylland.
The visitors disrupted Forest's much-anticipated return to European football at the City Ground, which had not occurred in 29 years.
Since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo last month, Postecoglou has yet to secure a victory in his first six matches, leading home fans to chant that he would be "sacked in the morning" as the game neared its conclusion.
Midtjylland capitalized on poor defending from Forest, with Ousmane Diao and Mads Bech scoring from set-pieces in the first half, reinforcing the Danish team's reputation as specialists in dead-ball situations.
Dan Ndoye managed to equalize briefly for the hosts, but Midtjylland, currently second in the Danish Superliga, regained the lead just two minutes later.
This performance from Forest was lackluster, especially with Murillo sidelined due to injury, as they struggled to find any rhythm against a robust Midtjylland side.
Despite the efforts of the dynamic Elliot Anderson to push Forest forward and Chris Wood having two goals disallowed, the visitors added a late third goal through Valdemar Byskov, prompting the home fans to express their frustration towards Postecoglou. Wood did manage to convert a stoppage-time penalty to pull one back.

The match was expected to herald a triumphant return to European competition at the City Ground, beginning with a sense of hope and excitement.
However, it concluded with Nottingham Forest supporters chanting against their new manager, who was dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur in June, while also singing praises for his predecessor, Nuno Espirito Santo.
As Byskov netted Midtjylland's late third goal, the question arose for Forest fans much sooner than anticipated: when does a problem escalate into a crisis?
This question was quickly answered as the home crowd turned on Postecoglou, calling for his removal.
Appointed only on September 9, Postecoglou has had limited time to train with his new squad. Although there have been fleeting moments showcasing the quick, attacking football he aims to implement, Thursday's Europa League defeat left little for the frustrated City Ground supporters to cling to.
A challenging trip to Newcastle awaits on Sunday in the Premier League, followed by the reprieve of the international break. Postecoglou must find a way to turn around his dismal start, or Forest fans may soon be welcoming a new face in the dugout.
