Premier League Staff Allowed to Play Fantasy Premier League
The Premier League has officially permitted both players and support staff at its clubs to participate in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL).
FPL is a highly popular game enjoyed by over 10 million people globally, where participants create teams of 15 players and earn points based on their performance in the Premier League.
While the Premier League does not impose restrictions on players or staff engaging in FPL, individual clubs may have their own guidelines regarding participation.
Clubs such as Arsenal, Bournemouth, and West Ham allow their players and staff to play. Fulham also permits participation but advises its staff to refrain from selecting Fulham players for their teams.
BBC Sport has reached out to all other Premier League clubs for their comments on this matter.
Notable current Newcastle players, including Aaron Ramsdale, Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, Fabian Schar, and Kieran Trippier, have been recognized as FPL players in previous seasons. Additionally, Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley participated in the game during the 2024-25 season.
Team News Leaks Considered 'Unethical' - Guardiola
During the 2020-21 season, an Aston Villa fan from Norway was implicated in a series of leaked team news reports.
By identifying certain FPL accounts belonging to staff members, Henning discovered that then Villa winger Jack Grealish was injured prior to their 2021 match against Leicester City, following his transfer out of their teams.
Aston Villa lost that match 2-1, prompting then-manager Dean Smith to initiate an internal investigation to uncover the source of the Grealish injury leak.
Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester manager at the time, confirmed that he had heard rumors regarding Grealish’s injury before the match.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola criticized the leaks, labeling them as "unprofessional and unethical."
