PSV Eindhoven Secures Dramatic 6-2 Victory Over Napoli in Champions League
PSV Eindhoven staged a remarkable comeback to defeat 10-man Napoli 6-2, marking their first Champions League victory of the season.
Scott McTominay opened the scoring for Napoli and later netted a consolation goal in an eventful match at Philips Stadion.
However, just seven minutes after McTominay's initial goal, PSV turned the tide with Ismael Saibari's stunning strike, following an own goal by Alessandro Buongiorno that put the Dutch side ahead.
Dennis Man added two more goals for PSV, capitalizing on the momentum after Lorenzo Lucca received a red card in the 76th minute for disputing a referee's decision.
McTominay, who enjoyed a successful first season with Napoli last year, managed to score again for the visitors with five minutes remaining in regular time.
Yet, his goal was quickly overshadowed as Ricardo Pepi restored the three-goal lead, and Couhaib Driouech capped off a perfect evening for PSV with a stunning long-range effort.
This defeat marks the second consecutive loss for Antonio Conte's side, which missed the chance to ascend to the top of Serie A after a loss to Torino on Saturday.
As a result, Napoli now sits at 22nd in the 36-team Champions League league phase, while PSV climbs to 11th place, surpassing the Italian team.
