Queens Park Rangers Held to Goalless Draw Against Oxford United
Queens Park Rangers faced a disappointing night at Loftus Road, settling for a goalless draw against Oxford United in the Championship.
The home team dominated possession throughout the match but struggled to penetrate the visitors' defense, managing only a single shot on target.
This solitary effort came at the end of the first half when Michael Frey's curling shot from just outside the box was expertly saved by Oxford's goalkeeper, Jamie Cumming.
Despite applying constant pressure and earning nine corners, Rangers were unable to find the back of the net.
As a result, they slipped to 10th place in the league standings. Meanwhile, Oxford secured a valuable point, marking their first clean sheet of the season, which allowed them to climb out of the relegation zone to 21st place.
The U's defended resolutely but struggled to create scoring opportunities, with their only real threat coming deep into stoppage time. Brian De Keersmaecker delivered a free-kick from the right, which Michal Helik connected with, heading the ball towards the left-hand post, only to see it go wide.
Rangers came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions but failed to convert any clear-cut chances. In the first half, Steve Cook fired a left-foot shot over the bar from a tight angle, and he later headed a corner over the goal after the break. Rumarn Burrell also had a chance, getting in front of his marker to meet a low cross from the left at the near post, but he could only direct his effort wide.
