Rangers and Hibernian May Postpone Matches for European Play-offs
Rangers and Hibernian are poised to exercise their right to postpone their Scottish Premiership matches scheduled for the weekend of August 23-24, contingent on their progression to the play-off stages of European qualifying.
Rangers will host Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round on Tuesday, which will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland. Meanwhile, Hibernian will travel to face Partizan Belgrade on Thursday in the first leg of their Conference League match.
If Rangers advance, their league fixture against St Mirren, set to occur between the two legs of the European tie, will be canceled. Should Russell Martin's team be eliminated, the match will proceed on Sunday, August 24, at 12:00 BST.
Hibernian's scheduled match against Falkirk on Saturday, August 23, at 17:45 will also be postponed if they successfully navigate past their Serbian opponents.
Additionally, the match between Dundee United and Aberdeen that weekend has already been postponed to allow Jimmy Thelin's side to prepare for their confirmed Europa League play-off against either FCSB of Bucharest or the Kosovan team Drita.
