Rasmus Hojlund's Transfer to Napoli Nearly Complete
Striker Rasmus Hojlund's permanent transfer from Manchester United to Napoli is nearly finalized, according to the club's sporting director Giovanni Manna.
The 22-year-old forward, who was acquired by Manchester United for £72 million from Atalanta in 2023, has netted nine goals since his loan move to the Serie A champions.
Earlier this month, Hojlund celebrated winning the Italian Super Cup and shared a photo on social media with the caption: "What a great decision looks like."
When asked if Hojlund's permanent transfer to Napoli was merely a formality, Manna responded, "As of today, I think so."
In an interview with the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, he remarked, "We did everything we could to sign him. There were more storied clubs interested, but his will was crucial, and we are proud of it."
An obligation to buy clause is included in Hojlund's loan agreement, with an agreed transfer fee of £38 million contingent upon Napoli qualifying for the Champions League.
Currently, Antonio Conte's side is positioned third in Serie A, which would secure their qualification.
Last season, Hojlund scored four league goals for Manchester United, but despite expressing a strong desire to stay at the club, the arrival of new signings Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo limited his opportunities.
"There's an option to buy and an obligation to buy if we qualify for the Champions League," Manna added. "The player considers himself a Napoli player, and the same goes for us. This is extremely important."
