Rodrigo Bentancur Signs New Long-Term Deal with Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Uruguayan international has made 122 appearances for Spurs since his transfer from Juventus in 2022.
At 28 years old, Bentancur played a key role in helping Tottenham end their 17-year trophy drought by securing a victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final last season.
Although the club did not disclose the specific duration of Bentancur's new contract, they referred to it as a "long-term" agreement.
"I feel really good and I’m very happy to continue my journey with this fantastic club," Bentancur stated. "We have a new head coach, a new captain, and I look forward to enjoying many more years here."
Bentancur initially joined Tottenham under former manager Antonio Conte, who was dismissed just 14 months later. Ange Postecoglou succeeded Conte in 2023, and Thomas Frank took over from Postecoglou earlier this year.
Frank expressed his enthusiasm about Bentancur's commitment, stating, "I’m extremely happy that Rodrigo has committed his future to the club. It shows his belief in what we are building here, and that we are embarking on a journey we hope will be truly special."
