Rogers Mato Signs Pre-Contract with Heart of Midlothian
Ugandan forward Rogers Mato has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Scottish Premiership leaders Heart of Midlothian this summer, transferring from North Macedonian top-flight leaders Vardar.
The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form this season, netting 15 goals and providing two assists in 17 appearances for Vardar.
Mato has secured a three-year contract with Hearts, which will take effect in July upon the conclusion of his current contract.
Having made his international debut in 2022, Mato has scored eight goals in 41 matches for the national team, including a consolation goal during a recent Africa Cup of Nations match against Nigeria.
He began his career in Uganda with Proline and KCCA before moving to Turkish club Sanliurfaspor in 2023.
After his stint in Turkey, Mato joined AP Brera in North Macedonia before transferring to Vardar last year.
Currently, Vardar leads the league, sitting one point ahead of second-placed Struga after 16 matches.
