Ryan Mason Leads West Bromwich Albion to Victory Over Blackburn Rovers
Ryan Mason began his tenure as head coach of West Bromwich Albion with a narrow Championship victory over Blackburn Rovers at home.
Isaac Price's goal in the 15th minute proved decisive, earning the team three points in a match that featured two sides only two points apart in the standings last season.
Price found the net from seven yards out after Aune Heggebo redirected Darnell Furlong's dangerous long throw into his path.
Both Heggebo and Price came close to scoring a second goal for Albion, but were thwarted by impressive saves from Balazs Toth on either side of halftime.
At the other end, Yuki Ohashi forced Josh Griffiths into a solid stop, and he might have been awarded a penalty just before the break when he appeared to be brought down by Torbjorn Heggem.
However, Rovers left the match empty-handed, marking Valerien Ismael's first return to West Brom since departing The Hawthorns in January 2022.
