Southampton Withdraw Tyler Dibling from Training Amid Everton Talks
Southampton FC has withdrawn midfielder Tyler Dibling from full contact training as negotiations for a potential transfer to Premier League side Everton progress.
The 19-year-old England Under-21 international has attracted significant interest, with Everton making three offers this summer, including a recent bid of £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons. All proposals have been rejected by Southampton, who are currently preparing for their Championship opener against Wrexham on Saturday following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Despite the rejections, discussions between the two clubs are moving forward, and there is optimism that an agreement for Dibling could soon be reached. To mitigate the risk of an unexpected injury jeopardizing the transfer, Southampton has opted to remove the young talent from full training.
Dibling has garnered interest from several Premier League clubs after an impressive season where he scored twice in 33 appearances. He notably netted a brace against Swansea City in an FA Cup third-round match in January.
Everton has faced challenges in strengthening their squad this summer. Manager David Moyes remarked last week that the club is "running out" of time to sign players, despite having funds available. To date, they have signed French striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal for £27 million, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea for approximately £28 million, young left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich, and reserve goalkeeper Mark Travers.
The club also saw the departure of five experienced starters, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Ashley Young, at the end of the previous season.
